Kim Harnes is a dedicated storyteller whose love for writing is evident throughout her work. With a background in children’s fiction, Kim has spent years refining her skills and sharing her distinct perspective with readers across the globe. Her creative process often includes a good cup of coffee, the reliable company of a slightly stubborn laptop and a very needy dog, the optimistic promise that today she will actually remember where she saved her manuscript, and a running tally of how many times she’s gotten lost in her own plot twists.

Roots and Inspiration

Originally from the small town of Hawthorne, Nevada, Kim draws inspiration from her personal experiences and the world around her. She skillfully integrates real-life observations into her narratives, crafting stories that are both engaging and meaningful (and sometimes creepy). The themes she explores invite readers to reflect and connect on a deeper level.

On Sunday mornings, Kim attends and serves at Horizon Church, often endeavoring to remember all the lyrics to the worship set.

Community and Interests

Beyond her writing, Kim is actively involved in fostering a sense of community among fellow writers. As the organizer of the Virginia City Writing Retreat, she creates opportunities for creative growth and collaboration. When she’s not working on her latest manuscript, Kim enjoys hobbies such as cooking, crafting, and dabbling in herbal medicines. Her adventures frequently involve getting lost, meeting fascinating strangers, and occasionally mispronouncing (but never misspelling) “Worcestershire.”

Current Life and Future Projects

Now residing in Sparks, Nevada with her husband, the aforementioned needy 80-pound dog, her stereotypical black cat, and a 125-gallon tank full of fish, Kim continues to develop new projects and engage with the literary community. She is committed to inspiring others through the power of words and looks forward to sharing many more stories in the future.

She approaches each editing project with care and a keen eye for detail, striving to maintain the writer’s unique voice while enhancing clarity and impact. Kim’s editorial work spans a variety of genres, with a particular fondness for children’s literature.
